Mohamed Salah linked with Liverpool exit

Mohamed Salah’s head has been turned by a potential move away from Liverpool this summer, according to a fresh transfer claim.

The Lowdown: The Salah soap opera

The future of the Reds’ Egyptian superstar has dominated the off-field headlines in recent months, with no new deal at Anfield agreed as of yet. Salah’s current Liverpool contract expires at the end of next season, and with an extension not signed, there is a fear that he might move on this summer before he could leave for free next year.

Over the last few weeks, various reports have wavered between him being likely to stay and set to leave Merseyside.

In the latest twist, a worrying update has now emerged regarding the 29-year-old’s next move.

The Latest: Worrying Salah update emerges

According to The Telegraph, Salah could possibly be ‘tempted to move on for a new challenge’ at the end of the season.

A switch to one of Spain’s top clubs or Paris Saint-Germain is mooted in the report, in an update which will cause some concern from a Liverpool perspective.

The Verdict: Expect him to stay

Any rumour regarding Salah leaving is one to prompt worry, but given his status as one of the Reds’ greatest players of all time, it still feels likely that he will stay and sign a new deal.

Quite why any Liverpool player would want to leave in these times makes little sense, especially with Jurgen Klopp’s new deal keeping him at Anfield until 2026, and the Egyptian King should see it as the only place to play his football.

Granted, Salah will only sign if he feels truly wanted, but his career would risk going downhill if he leaves arguably Europe’s best and most exciting team right now when at the peak of his powers.

In other news, one Liverpool player has now been backed to stay at the club this summer. Find out who it is here.

Zouks, Knight Riders share points after washout

St Lucia Zouks picked up their first points in three games after persistent rain washed out their contest against Trinbago Knight Riders

The Report by Varun Shetty22-Sep-2019No result
St Lucia Zouks picked up their first points in three games after persistent rain washed out their match against Trinbago Knight Riders. The venue had copped heavy rain before the match, and, although the game started on time and in good conditions, one spell of rain 12.2 overs into the Zouks innings put a stop to proceedings. Zouks now have three points in six games, and continue to be fifth on the table with four games to go. Immediately above them are Barbados Tridents with four points in four matches.Knight Riders had put Zouks in and dismissed both their openers inside the Powerplay. Andre Fletcher had a leg-side delivery stop on him as he flicked aerially to deep square leg. John Campbell, who came into the XI and replaced Rahkeem Cornwall in the opening slot, looked patchy until he drove uppishly against Jimmy Neesham, who plucked a one-handed reaction catch to his right in his follow-through.The experience of Colin Ingram and Colin de Grandhomme brought stability – and flair – to the innings, with both batsmen getting themselves in during a 51-run stand. Ingram, in particular, was impressive, gauging the pace of the pitch early in his innings and barely offering a chance as he got to 52 off 34. He was unbeaten when Cornwall top-edged to short third man a minute before the covers came on.

Jackson's days at Stamford Bridge could be numbered following the arrival this summer of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. The Blues have offered the Senegal international to Newcastle, Manchester United and AC Milan but are yet to strike a deal, according to talkSPORT. The Blues are also said to have slashed an initial asking price of £100 million ($135m) to £80m ($106m) for Jackson.

Newcastle and Manchester United appear to have prioritised a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, rather than Jackson, and are believed to be battling for his signature. The Red Devils have also been linked with Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.

DID YOU KNOW?

Jackson has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and was first choice last season. However, costly red cards against Newcastle in the Premier League and Flamengo at the Club World Cup may have helped end his career at the club.

Chelsea have friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan lined up before their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace. Manager Enzo Maresca's team selections for those friendlies may well offer clues as to whether Jackson has any future still at Stamford Bridge.

Why Man Utd are 'unlikely' to be able to complete transfer for standout Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo – explained

Manchester United have been reportedly forced to back off from signing Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

Man Utd were keen to sign TodiboWere in advanced talks with NiceBut had to pull back from the dealWHAT HAPPENED?

According to United's advanced talks with the French club have been halted due to complications arising from the dual ownership of both clubs by INEOS, headed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. This issue has led UEFA to block any potential transfer between the two outfits as they will be participating in the next edition of the Europa League and a move is now "highly unlikely".

AdvertisementGOALTHE BIGGER PICTURE

Todibo has been a standout performer for Nice since joining the club four years ago, attracting interest from several top teams. However, with the Todibo deal off the table, United have turned their attention to other potential defensive reinforcements. Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite has emerged as a target, though initial efforts to sign him have also faced setbacks. United's £35 million ($44.53m) bid for the young defender was deemed insufficient by Everton, who labelled the offer as "insulting". Despite this rejection, it remains to be seen if the club revisits their interest with an improved proposal, especially given their urgent need for defensive strengthening.

DID YOU KNOW?

Aside from Branthwaite, United have also been linked with Leny Yoro of Lille. However, any move for the young French defender seems far from imminent as Real Madrid are considered favourites to land the player – suggesting that United may need to explore further options.

INEOS' ownership of both United and Nice has proven to be a double-edged sword. While it allows for potential synergies and shared resources, it also imposes significant restrictions, as evidenced by the blocked Todibo transfer. The ability to adapt quickly and identify viable alternatives will be crucial in maintaining their competitive edge. The club's fans will be keenly watching to see how these developments unfold and what it means for their team's prospects in both domestic and European competitions.

Mignon du Preez takes Loughborough to Finals Day

Nat Sciver, Sarah Taylor make fifties, but can’t prevent Surrey’s group stage exit

ECB Reporters Network23-Aug-2019Mignon du Preez scored an unbeaten 48 for Loughborough Lightning to send her side to a second successive Kia Super League Finals Day, while knocking holders Surrey Stars out the competition.South African du Preez is Lightning’s highest scorer in the KSL this season with 246 runs, having previously made unbeaten scores of 70 and 38, before clattering 48 in 25 balls at Haslegrave Ground, Loughborough on Friday. She finished the job with a four down the ground with nine balls to spare, after Chamari Atapattu had brilliantly notched 45 from 35 balls.Stars had scored what seemed like a competitive 147 for 7, thanks to Nat Sciver’s first half-century of the tournament and Sarah Taylor’s second fifty in a row.But the hosts chased well to set up a date with either Southern Vipers or Yorkshire Diamonds in Hove – with unbeaten Western Storm waiting in the final.”We are super excited to go to Finals Day,” du Preez said. “It was something we really wanted to do and to get there with two games to spare is super special. The key thing will be to keep the momentum into Finals Day, we want to keep the winning ways going.”Big hitting isn’t something I had been known for. In my ODI career, I have only hit three sixes in over 100 games, so to actually hit them frequently in games shows I have been working on that area of my game. I also usually struggle with staying to the finish, I usually get in and then get out, so to get those not outs and score runs consistently was one of my big goals.”Loughborough’s response had started in poor fashion as Amy Jones was run out by Dane van Niekerk, before Marizanne Kapp bowled a maiden.Having been involved in the Jones run out, Hayley Matthews seemed to feel some responsibility to score quickly, as she helped thunder 24 runs off the third and fourth overs. But the West Indian was stumped off Mady Villiers in the fifth.Georgia Elwiss and Atapattu settled things down and added 49 in exactly six overs for the third wicket before the former was stumped.Sri Lankan Atapattu used her power to take Lightning up to, along, and then above the required rate – with six boundaries and a straight six, before she was bowled by Laura Marsh.Du Preez, who had put on 41 with Atapattu, clubbed a quartet of balls over the ropes, and despite seeing Georgia Adams run out, saw her side to a comfortable five-wicket win.Earlier, the Stars only managed 29 runs in the Powerplay, after winning the toss, and had already lost both openers Lizelle Lee and Dane van Niekerk within the first 32 balls.Lee was lbw to Kathryn Bryce to the first ball of the game before South African teammate van Niekerk was bowled by Jenny Gunn. But Sciver and Taylor ticked the score along and slowly started to accelerate – the former playing conventionally, while keeper Taylor utilised her supple wrists to claim five flicked boundaries behind the bat.Skipper Sciver was the first to fifty, off 31 balls, having tickled Atapattu for a boundary before arriving at the milestone with a hoicked single into the leg side. It was the first time she had scored a KSL half-century since the semi-final against Western Storm last year.Sciver departed when she offered a catch to extra cover for 53, having put on 87 with Taylor – the third time the duo had added more than 48 together in this season’s competition.Taylor arrived at the 50 landmark in 45 balls with back-to-back boundaries off Bryce, but the Scotland captain had the last laugh next ball with a slower ball yorker. Surrey lost Kapp, Bryony Smith and Villiers in the last seven balls but managed to reach 147 for seven, despite Gunn’s exceptional 2 for 19.

Deal close: Rangers target who plays like Neymar chooses Ibrox

Glasgow Rangers are leading the race to sign a young talent who has even been compared to Brazil superstar Neymar, with the player thought to have chosen a move to Ibrox despite a long list of suitors.

Martin expects more departures as Rangers ramp up business

Robin Propper’s time as a Gers player has reached its conclusion, with the centre-back returning to former club FC Twente after struggling to consistently impress at Ibrox.

Speaking over the weekend, manager Russell Martin admitted that there is interest in various other Rangers players, too, with plenty of outgoing business expected this summer.

While much focus is on the players who could leave Rangers in the coming weeks, new signings are also essential, and it looks as though the Scottish Premiership giants are in pole position to snap up a high level youngster.

Rangers set to win race for Mikey Moore

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, the Gers have won the race to sign Tottenham sensation Mikey Moore on loan despite competition from the English Championship.

Moore is such a gifted player with a big future in the game, so the idea of him spending the 2025/26 season at Rangers is a mouthwatering prospect.

The 17-year-old winger has an incredible 32 goal contributions (19 goals and 13 assists) in just 24 appearances for Spurs’ under-18 side, also netting once for the senior side to date and being lauded as similar to Neymar by teammate James Maddison.

“From minute 45 to 65 I thought we had Neymar on the left wing. He was brilliant. Just demanding the ball and fearless. [He has] that young, fearless mentality and you never want to take that away from him. He’s a young kid, a brilliant lad, a lovely boy. He takes in information, and he’s got bags of ability, so I’ll be there as an older player, hopefully with some wise words to help along the way.”

Martin knows that extra firepower is needed if his Rangers side are to have a chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title next season, and in Moore they would be signing an extremely talented youngster with the potential to excel on loan, no doubt wanting to prove his worth to Spurs.

Ipswich Town make contact to sign in-demand Sadio Mane-esque £17m forward

Ipswich Town have now made an approach to sign a new £17m striker, who is also a target for some of Europe’s biggest clubs, according to a report.

Ipswich keen on new striker following Delap departure

Ipswich have made a strong start to the summer transfer window, securing deals for the likes of Azor Matusiwa, Cedric Kipre and Ashley Young.

However, Kieran McKenna has a big decision on his hands following Liam Delap’s move to Chelsea, as he can choose to either press on with George Hirst as the main man in attack, or pursue a move for a new striker.

Hirst arguably struggled to make the step-up to the Premier League last season, scoring just three goals, but the centre-forward was a reliable source of goals and assists during the 2023-24 Championship campaign, amassing 13 goal contributions in 26 games.

As such, the 26-year-old could be capable of leading the line for a promotion-chasing side, but the Tractor Boys have now made an approach to sign a new striker, who is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

He's their new Delap: Ipswich prioritising move to sign 25 y/o La Liga star

The Tractor Boys desperately need a Delap replacement.

ByTom Cunningham Jul 25, 2025

That is according to a report from Football Insider, which states Ipswich have now made contact over a deal for Metz forward Idrissa Gueye, who could be available for a fee of around £17m this summer.

However, there may be fierce competition for Gueye’s signature, as Liverpool have made an approach of their own, alongside the likes of West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund, showing just how highly the 18-year-old is rated.

With a number of the Serie A’s top clubs and Manchester United also interested in the striker, it could be difficult for the Tractor Boys to get a deal over the line, but there is certainly interest on their behalf, and the race is now underway.

Gueye could be real coup for Ipswich

It would be a real coup if McKenna’s side were able to sign the Metz forward, given how highly he is regarded, having previously been likened to a Liverpool legend, with journalist Alan Nixon revealing the youngster is “rated as highly as Sadio Mane was”.

Al Nassr'sSadioManecelebrates

The Senegalese starlet has already managed to force his way into the Metz first team, picking up five goals and one assist in 17 Ligue 2 outings last season, indicating that he may now be ready to lead the line for a Championship side.

However, given that Gueye is being pursued by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, it seems unlikely that Ipswich will be able to get a deal over the line, meaning it may be worth moving on to a more attainable target.

Widespread claims have suggested that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford could also be in the Tractor Boys’ sights, and the 31-year-old may well be a solid signing, having picked up a total of 69 goals and 15 assists in 217 Championship appearances.

Federico Chiesa to Bayern Munich?! Vincent Kompany eyes Juventus star as he bids to build new-look attack around Harry Kane

Juventus winger Federico Chiesa has emerged as a summer transfer target for Bayern Munich as his contract approaches its final year.

Bayern eye new attacking targetChiesa out of contract in 2025Transfer considered possibleWHAT HAPPENED?

reporter Florian Plettenberg has shared that Chiesa's name has been added to Bayern's shortlist. The Italy winger is out of contract next summer and an initial price range is estimated at a relative bargain €30-40 million (£25m-£34m/$32m-$43m). But with Chiesa away at Euro 2024, no decision is expected to be made on his part for several weeks.

Advertisement(C)Getty ImagesTHE BIGGER PICTURE

Juventus are unsurprisingly said to be open to extending Chiesa's contract beyond next season, but a transfer is ultimately thought to be possible given that he is expected to have plenty of options on the table. Liverpool were notably linked just last month, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain both also rumoured to be interested within the last year.

DID YOU KNOW?

Chiesa scored 10 goals for Juventus in all competitions in 2023-24, marking a return to his best form after suffering an ACL injury in January 2022 that had massively disrupted two seasons. Even just the idea of having him link up with Harry Kane should have Bayern fans licking their lips in anticipation.

Getty ImagesWHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN MUNICH?

Bayern won't get an answer on Chiesa for a little while, but there is still plenty to be done for new manager Vincent Kompany. The Belgian currently has precious time to familiarise himself with his new surroundings before pre-season training begins early next month for those not on international duty. With Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting moving on and Thomas Muller to turn 35 in September, the attacking ranks are in need of fresh blood if the Bundesliga title is to be wrestled back from Bayer Leverkusen.

Leeds now make approach to sign "special" £35m striker with 23 G/A in 24/25

Leeds United have now made an approach over a deal for a “special” striker, according to a reporter.

Leeds keen on new striker despite signing Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha

Leeds appear to be very well-stocked in the centre-forward department, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin arriving alongside Lukas Nmecha to complement Joel Piroe.

It was Nmecha who was the match-winner in the Whites’ opening Premier League game against Everton, with the former Wolfsburg man converting a penalty a matter of minutes after being brought on as a substitute.

Calvert-Lewin also seems like a decent capture, given that the 11-time England international was available on a free transfer, and the 28-year-old is vastly experienced at Premier League level, although Daniel Farke has admitted it was a gamble.

Farke said: “Let’s be open about it. It’s always a bit risky to sign players who’ve had difficult years with a few injuries. There are always question marks and doubts. But the second part of the truth is that if he had his prime season last season he wouldn’t be on the market for us.”

Perhaps given the former Everton man’s patchy injury record, the Whites remain interested in signing another striker before the September 1st transfer deadline, and they have now stepped up their pursuit of a Bundesliga star.

Leeds now hold strong interest in signing "phenomenal" 24/25 title-winner

The Whites have set their sights on a defender, who is “open” to leaving his current club this summer.

ByDominic Lund Aug 21, 2025

That is according to Florian Plettenberg, who has now taken to X to reveal that Leeds have recently submitted an enquiry over a deal for VfB Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirovic, who is attracting widespread interest.

Nottingham Forest have also made an approach for Demirovic, alongside a number of other Premier League clubs, and the striker “remains a player to watch until deadline day.”

However, it could be difficult to get a deal over the line, with the Sky Sports reporter stating Stuttgart are eager to keep hold of the 27-year-old, who is “only willing to consider top offers.”

"Special" Demirovic could take Leeds' attack to next level

A deal for the Bosnia international could be on the expensive side, with Stuttgart thought to be holding out for £35m, but that could be a price worth paying, considering he has the ability to take Leeds’ attack to the next level.

VfB Stuttgart's Jeff Chabot, VfB Stuttgart's ErmedinDemirovicand VfB Stuttgart's Pascal Stenzel celebrate after winning the DFB Cup Final

Lauded as “special” by Stuttgart director Fabian Wohlgemuth, the Hamburg-born striker chipped in with 23 goal contributions for Stuttgart across all competitions last season, helping his side secure a shock DFB-Pokal triumph.

Not only that, but the Stuttgart star has retained a fantastic goal record in the Bundesliga across the past two campaigns.
