Trajetória do Fluminense no Carioca indica novas ideias e time base para a temporada

Man Utd also eyeing World Cup winner to replace Ten Hag instead of Tuchel

da dobrowin: Pressure is already starting to mount on Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, and the club have already got three replacements in mind, according to a recent report.

da gbg bet: The Red Devils were one of the busiest sides in the Premier League when it came to transfers this summer, as the club brought in five new players and let go of 13, but the difference is yet to show on the football pitch.

United are now three games into the new season heading into this international break, and ten Hag’s side have won just one of those matches. Since the win over Fulham on the opening weekend, the Red Devils have lost to Brighton and Liverpool.

The weekend’s defeat to Liverpool has put the Dutchman under a lot of pressure, so much so United’s hierarchy are said to be looking at replacements already, with Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel the current frontrunners.

Potter and Tuchel are currently out of work, with the Englishman yet to get back into football after being sacked by Chelsea, while Tuchel left German giants Bayern Munich at the end of last season as the club failed to win a trophy.

Both Potter and Tuchel were linked with the Manchester United job over the summer, as the future of ten Hag was under threat. Both managers were said to be keen on landing the Old Trafford hotseat, but the club decided to keep ten Hag in charge. The pair are being linked with the role once again, but there is also a third name in the frame, who may surprise people.

Man United eyeing World Cup winner to replace ten Hag

According to reports in Spain, Potter and Tuchel are still possible successors to ten Hag, but former German manager Joachim Löw is also another name in the frame. All three are without a football club, and the report states that they would be willing to take on the role should it become available.

Low left his role as the German national team manager in June 2021, after taking charge of 198 games and winning the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Lowe was in charge of Germany from 2006, but before taking that role, he's also managed at club level.

Low has managed teams such as VfB Stuttgart, Fenerbahçe, Adanaspor, and Austria Vienna. However, he has struggled to stay at any one club for long, with his longest tenure away from the national side coming with Stuttgart, as he took charge of 83 games.

The 64-year-old has never managed in English football, so this could be a risk from the Red Devils, but what he lacks in experience in England, he makes up for what he has achieved as a manager, especially during his time with Germany.

As well as winning the World Cup, Low also won the Confederations Cup with his country, and he’s also won the German Cup, as well as the Austrian League and Super Cup at club level. The German has previous with Man United, as he praised his former player Bastian Schweinsteiger for leaving Bayern Munich and joining the Red Devils in the 2015 summer transfer window, claiming it took ambition for a player at the back end of his career to move to such a massive club.

England's batting a concern heading into ODI World Cup

Conditions have been tricky, but unlike Australia the visitors have not been able to find a way

Across all the England cricket teams that have visited Australia this season they are currently 13-0 down with one match, the final ODI of the multi-format women’s Ashes, left to play.It has been a season of batting collapses for the visiting sides, the latest of which on Sunday saw Australia win the Ashes at a canter in Melbourne. Heading into the ODI World Cup in New Zealand it is a concern for Heather Knight’s team.England twice had it within their grasp to keep the series alive but fluffed their lines: they lost 6 for 26 in the second innings of a one-day style chase in the Test match, having played outstandingly to engineer a winning position, and in the first ODI could not hunt down 206 albeit on a tricky surface in Canberra. On Sunday, they produced their worst batting display of the tour as they subsided to 129 all out on what, again, was a pitch with some assistance but as Ellyse Perry later showed was possible to overcome with application.Related

Ellyse Perry's all-round genius carries Australia to Women's Ashes victory

Earlier in the tour, there were caveats after a very difficult build-up, then two of the T20Is being washed out, but as Knight noted after the ODI loss in Canberra the team has had long enough to shake off the rust now.”One of our top five or six needs to take responsibility a bit more often and make sure you are there at the end of the innings,” Nat Sciver said on Sunday.Alyssa Healy noted how batting conditions throughout the Australian summer have been tricky, but one of England’s better performances – in the first T20I in Adelaide – was not enough as the home side won with three overs to spare and Australia’s batters have been able to find a way in the first two ODIs.”The wickets here have been really conducive to seam bowling all summer,” Healy said. “Hasn’t felt like we’ve had a real flat track. The most pleasing thing for me personally has been getting ourselves out of a corner.”We’ve won games that we haven’t looked like we’ve been able to win…so the fact we are able to fight and scrap and work our way back into fixtures to win games with our backs against the wall has been really impressive. Leading into a World Cup it’s hugely important and will give us great confidence knowing that we can back our skills under pressure.”There were concerns about England’s batting raised at the end of the last home season when they were twice bowled out for under 200 against New Zealand although they rebounded to finish the series with 347 for 5. But there remain holes in the order. In 11 innings since the start of last year, Lauren Winfield-Hill is averaging 25.63 and has not reached fifty in ODIs since 2016. Wicketkeeper Amy Jones, while a useful contributor in the middle order, averages 27.40 since the start of 2021. The fact Sophie Ecclestone has twice shown up some of the top order is not ideal. There were also batting problems for the England A side in their concurrent series against Australia A with them bowled out in all three matches for 219, 132 and 211.So while the Ashes have been lost, the final ODI shapes as an important match for England as they try to find some batting confidence although with the game being played on the same pitch at Junction Oval that may not be easy. It’s also the last chance for an England cricket team to secure a victory this season.

Harris and Handscomb continue their fine form for Victoria

Pair share 165-run unbeaten stand with Harris 88 not out at stumps in his last match before the Pakistan Test tour

Marcus Harris made another statement ahead of the Test tour of Pakistan while Peter Handscomb continued his outstanding form as Victoria made the most of a beautiful day-two batting surface at Junction Oval after bowling Queensland out for 349.Harris and Handscomb shared an unbeaten stand of 165 with Harris cruising to 88 not out, coming off his Marsh Cup century last week while Handscomb finished 74 not out at stumps following on from his brilliant match-saving Sheffield Shield century against South Australia.Earlier in the day, 22-year-old Queenslander Jack Clayton made a century on Shield debut while James Bazley made his highest first-class score of 64 to help Queensland post a decent first-innings total. But the afternoon belonged to Victoria’s senior pros as Harris and Handscomb batted with typical control following the early loss of Travis Dean. Both men struck nine fours and Harris added a six as Queensland’s spin duo of Mitchell Swepson and Matt Kuhnemann couldn’t break through after Victoria’s part-time offspinner Matthew Short had earlier claimed four wickets.Harris’ staggering record at the Junction Oval continues. If he reaches 96 unbeaten on day three he will have 800 runs at an average of 100 at the ground, and if he can find 12 more runs for his century it will be his fifth at the Junction Oval in just nine innings. Handscomb is gunning for his third Shield century of the season after revealing during the week that a slight technical adjustment with his feet and hip alignment had been the catalyst for his run glut this season.Earlier, Clayton showed he has the makings of a top-class Shield player after handling Victoria’s experienced attack on debut. He unfurled some outstanding pull shots off the quicks and the spinners bringing up his century of 216 balls. He fell to a pull shot not long after picking out square leg off Will Sutherland who finished with three wickets. Sutherland and Short threatened to clean up the tail. Handscomb took a phenomenal reflex catch at slip to hand Short his third scalp. But Bazley and Kuhnemann added 53 for the final wicket to push Queensland’s first innings just shy of 350, with Bazley making his second career half-century. Scott Boland finished with 0 for 24 from 19 overs having delivered 10 maidens.

> Veja a tabela do Brasileirão

"Accomplished" £27k-a-week Rangers player now closing in on loan exit

da jogodeouro: An "accomplished" Rangers player is reportedly closing in on a move away from Ibrox this summer.

Rangers transfer news

da lvbet: This has been a hugely productive summer transfer window for the Gers, with a host of new names brought in, adding significant depth to Philippe Clement's squad in the process. Mohamed Diomande made his loan switch a permanent one, while the likes of Robin Propper and Hamza Igamane have also come in, among others.

That's not to say that there couldn't be some late business at Rangers, with rumours continuing to swirl. Norwich City striker Abu Kamara has emerged as a transfer target for the Scottish Premiership club, with personal terms involving the 21-year-old not expected to be an issue.

Meanwhile, the Gers are believed to have submitted a bid for Almeria defender Kaiky, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the offer is a sizeable £6.5m. It has been rejected, though, so an increased amount will need to be tabled.

Fiorentina attacker Josip Brekalo is also on Rangers' radar, having been made surplus to requirements by the Serie A club, and contact has been made over a summer move. Now, it appears an outgoing regarding a current Ibrox ace is "imminent".

"Accomplished" Rangers player heading for exit

According to a report from The Daily Record, Ben Davies is set to complete a loan move from Rangers to Birmingham City.

The deal involving the 29-year-old could include a buy option at the end of the season should he impress enough at the League One club for them to retain his services.

Ben Davies at Rangers.

Birmingham have been big spenders this summer following their relegation from the Championship, parting with over €15m (£12.7m) to date – far more than any of their League One rivals as they seek an immediate promotion.

This feels like the right decision for all parties, with Davies not considered an important part of Clement's plans moving forward, and never truly feeling like a key man since arriving from Liverpool in the summer of 2022.

That's not to say that the English centre-back isn't a good player, with none other than Jurgen Klopp heaping praise on him when he joined Rangers, saying:

"This presents a proper opportunity to demonstrate his quality and composure. As a person, he’s as good a guy as you could hope to meet. It’s a smart piece of recruitment from Giovanni van Bronckhorst, to be honest. Perfect for all parties. He has himself an accomplished defender, who is entering his peak years and whose character is top-drawer."

The hope is that Davies enjoys a successful stint on loan at Birmingham prior to completing a permanent move this time next year, allowing Rangers to receive a fee in the process.

Rangers eyeing move to sign £2m attacker with personal terms not an issue

Rangers are looking to improve their attacking options.

ByBrett Worthington Aug 24, 2024

The £27,000-a-week defender is contracted at Ibrox until 2026, meaning that next summer will be the last realistic opportunity for that to happen, so it does feel as though he has played his final match for the Gers.

Pakistan’s Haseebullah Khan’s 135 downs Zimbabwe; hosts West Indies open account

A devastating opening spell from West Indies fast bowler Shiva Sankar rattled Scotland so bad that they could never recover. Scotland were bowled out for 95 and West Indies chased the target down in less than 20 overs to earn their first points in their home U-19 World Cup.Sankar got the new ball to swing away from right-handers, and his first scalp was Scotland opener Charlie Tear after he smacked one straight to mid off. Sankar then went full on middle stump to No. 3 Samuel Elstone, and he missed the flick and was out lbw. The third wicket for Sankar, though, was his best ball – an outswinger enticing No. 4 Tomas Mackintosh to drive, only for him to edge it to the slip cordon. The score of 29 for 3 was soon 57 for 5 when left-arm spinner Anderson Mahase picked off the next two batters. No. 5 Jack Jarvis pulled a short ball to Sankar at midwicket and the No. 6 Muhaymen Majeed missed a flick after charging down the track, leaving the wicketkeeper to complete a straightforward stumping. With the lower order exposed at one end, the rest of West Indies’ bowling unit went for the kill. McKenny Clarke’s extra pace induced an edge off Rafay Khan, after which the tall right-arm offspinner Onaje Amory used his height to get turn and bounce and find the outside edges of Lyle Robertson and Scotland captain Charlie Peet. The tenth wicket, however, was of Scotland’s best batter Oliver Davidson. Having opened the batting and seen all the wickets tumble around him, he had to show restraint through his innings. He trundled along to 43 in 92 balls before being the last man out in anticlimactic fashion, run out while looking for a two. It was a terrific performance on the field led by stand-in captain Giovonte Depeiza, who was leading the side in Ackeem Auguste’s absence.West Indies opener Matthew Nandu was tentative in their chase of 96, more so after his first-ball duck against Australia in the tournament opener. The other opener Shaqkere Parris, though, was more enterprising with his shot making. Together they put on 37 for the first wicket.Parris entertained with three fours and a six, but he seemed to get bogged down by Peet’s unorthodox round-arm left-arm spinning deliveries that seemed to dart into the stumps. Parris missed a Leet delivery that went straight with the arm, and he was walking back for 26 in 29 balls after his leg stump was rattled. The other left-arm spinner Oliver Davidson soon removed Rivaldo Clarke after his cut took the edge to the keeper, but that was about all the success Scotland had. West Indies did not lose a wicket from 66 for 3 onwards, and the unbeaten batters Teddy Bishop (23*) and Johnson (14*) saw the game off without any fuss.Dunith Wellalage turned in key performances with bat and ball•Getty Images

In the other Group D match, Sri Lanka captain Dunith Wellalage produced a dominating all-round show against Australia to throw the group wide open with one round of matches left.Wellalage – the batting allrounder who also bowls left-arm spin – first ran through the Australia batting with a five-for to bowl them out for 175. And when Sri Lanka were 49 for 4 in their chase, he smacked 52 to set up their win.Although Wellalage top-scored in the chase, he was ably assisted from the No. 6 and No. 7 batters who came after him. Wicketkeeper Anjala Bandara made 33 in a 70-run fifth-wicket stand with Wellalage. And after that, Wellalage added a further 52 with Ranuda Somarathne. After Wellalage fell, Somarathne saw the chase off to finish unbeaten on 32.Australia’s only bright spot was their opener Campbell Kellaway, who made 54. Wellalage, who introduced himself as the sixth bowler, made the most damage through the middle overs. After removing Kellaway in the 29th over, he rattled the stumps twice in the 31st to dismiss Nivethan Radhakrishnan (21) and Tobias Snell. Those three wickets in quick time saw Australia fall from 107 for 3 to 112 for 6, and if it wasn’t for William Salzmann’s 22, they would’ve folded for much lesser.Sri Lanka’s win sets Group D up for a grandstand finish. The winner of the Sri Lanka-West Indies clash in the last round definitely progresses to the Super League stage. But the loser of that game can also go through if Australia don’t win by a big enough margin against Scotland in their last match.Haseebullah’s century is the tournament’s highest individual score so far•ICC via Getty Images

Over in Group C, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan hammered 135 to lift Pakistan to 315 for 9, a total 115 runs too much for Zimbabwe in their game at Diego Martin.Haseebullah put on a 189-run third-wicket stand with the No. 4 Irfan Khan, who made 75 in 73 balls. After that, the rest of Pakistan’s batters smacked quick-fire cameos to give Zimbabwe an uphill chase. The 16-year-old Awais Ali then picked up three late wickets in the second innings to finish with 6 for 56, the tournament’s best figures so far.Haseebullah, the opener, hammered ten fours and four sixes in his 155-ball innings while Irfan crunched six fours and one six. Their third-wicket stand was broken by right-arm seamer Alex Falao when Irfan fell in the 45th over, but that did not plug the flow of runs.Qasim Akram, the Pakistan captain, scored an 11-ball 20, Abbas Ali made 13 in six balls and the No. 9 Zeeshan Zamar hit three sixes in his six-ball 21 to take Pakistan to 315. Falao picked up another four wickets after Irfan’s dismissal to finish with 5 for 58.Pakistan’s opening bowlers, Zeeshan Zameer and Ahmed Khan, together with first-change bowler Awais pegged Zimbabwe back early with their breakthroughs. On the back of their effort, Pakistan had reduced Zimbabwe to 82 for 6 which soon was 111 for 7.But Brian Bennett went on to hit a 92-ball 82 to get Zimbabwe as close to the target as he could. He did the bulk of the scoring in a 73-run eighth-wicket stand with Tendekai Mataranyika to take Zimbabwe to 200. But Awais returned to clean both of them up, and also the final wicket, to finish with a six-for. Despite Zimbabwe’s late rally to protect their net run rate, they still fell short by 115.

They remain active in the transfer window though, and are keen to recruit another striker before the window slams shut. They had earmarked Armando Broja as their no.1 target, and had even seemingly agreed a loan deal with an obligation to buy the Albanian for £30m if they clinched survival, but the move fell through.

Though David Ornstein now reports talks are back on with Chelsea in the final hours of the window, it appears that the Tractor Boys have also eyed up an alternative should they fail to land the 22-year-old, having already seen several bids rejected.

Ipswich Town in talks for another Championship star

Having already poached last season's Championship top goalscorer this summer, Ipswich seem set to try and turn to England's second tier once more amid claims from Sky Sports that they are still in talks to land Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough.

The Boro striker scored 16 times in the Championship last season and is already up and running this season, finding the net against Swansea City on the first day of the season.

He drew high praise from teammate Luke Ayling in the second half of last season, who dubbed him a "dream to play with" and praised his hard-working playstyle.

"He runs his socks off up there, he’s so strong for such a little man, and he leaps so well too. I’ve got a few assists from him where I know that if I put it into an area, he will probably be there. He’s made me look a bit better with my crossing! I’ve really enjoyed playing with him."

Sky Sports add that Ipswich are "confident they’ll make one deal happen" out of Broja and the 25-year-old Ivorian, though no potential fee is mentioned in their discussions. It is unlikely that Latte Lath's £10,000 a week wages will be a problem for the newly promoted side.

For McKenna, a striker could cap what has been a transfer window beyond even the most optimistic Ipswich's fans hopes.
