Praticamente no lance seguinte, o Flu empatou.

Revealed: What Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk said to PSG chiefs Nasser Al-Khelaifi & Luis Campos in tunnel chat amid transfer fears – including apology for 'It's not Ligue 1, bro' jibe

It's been revealed what Virgil van Dijk said to Paris Saint-Germain chiefs Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos after Liverpool's Champions League exit.

VVD's contract is set to expire in the summerTunnel chat with Campos gave rise to transfer speculationDutch defender allegedly apologised for previous commentsFollow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱WHAT HAPPENED?

Liverpool’s European campaign ended in heartbreak after a dramatic clash with Luis Enrique’s side. The tie, which finished level on aggregate after Ousmane Dembele’s goal forced extra-time, ultimately saw PSG triumph in a tense penalty shootout as Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones failed to convert their spot-kicks. However, rather than focusing on the match’s outcome, attention quickly shifted to Van Dijk’s tunnel conversation, sparking concerns over his long-term future at Anfield as his contract is set to expire in the next few months.

AdvertisementAFPTHE BIGGER PICTURE

According to French broadcaster RMC Sport, the encounter between Van Dijk and the PSG officials was not pre-arranged, but rather an unplanned crossing of paths. During their exchange, the Liverpool captain reportedly apologised to Luis Campos for his comments in the first leg of the tie.

The initial altercation stemmed from Campos’ frustration when Ibrahima Konate escaped a red card for an incident involving Bradley Barcola. The challenge had undergone a lengthy VAR review, but the officials ultimately decided against issuing further punishment. After the match, Van Dijk fired back at an infuriated Campos, saying: "It’s not Ligue 1, bro." However, the two parties have mended their relationship after a respectful exchange at Anfield.

DID YOU KNOW?

Van Dijk apparently also went on to praise PSG, stating that they were not only the best team he had faced this season, but the strongest side he had encountered over the past three years. The top brass of the French club reportedly enjoyed the discussion and any previous tensions were put to rest.

AFPWHAT NEXT FOR VAN DIJK?

While his chat with PSG chiefs has raised eyebrows, Van Dijk has done little to dispel the uncertainty surrounding his Liverpool future. Speaking on Wednesday, the Dutchman admitted he has no clarity on whether he will be part of Arne Slot’s squad next season. With his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, Liverpool and Van Dijk have yet to make progress on an extension, further fuelling speculation that his time at Anfield could be coming to an end.

10 duels lost: Everton’s 20-touch star had a shocker for his country

Everton have several players representing their countries during the international break. Not only is the UEFA Nations League reaching its climax, but qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations is ongoing and the South American World Cup qualifiers are over halfway completed..

Sean Dyche will be hoping a few of his players can return to Merseyside free from any injuries as they look to move away from the Premier League relegation zone.

He will be buoyed by a few of the performances that have been delivered by his players, however.

The Everton players who have shone on international duty

Jordan Pickford kept another clean sheet for England during their 3-0 victory over Greece. The goalkeeper made five saves and won 100% of his total duels during the game.

Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye both started for Senegal in their AFCON qualifier against Burkina Faso, which ended in a narrow 1-0 win for Senegal.

Gueye was in superb form, finishing the game with a 96% pass success rate, making four key passes, winning six of his eight ground duels and making four tackles as he ran the show from the heart of the midfield.

Ndiaye was deployed in a more advanced role, just behind Nicolas Jackson, and he was fairly solid too. He made two key passes, registered two shots and attempted four dribbles, succeeding with two.

Dyche will be hoping the trio can maintain these levels of performance for Everton’s next match in the league. There was one player who gave an underwhelming display on international duty, however, as Beto failed to shine for his nation.

Beto's stats vs Guinea-Bissau

The striker has scored two goals for Everton this term, including one in the Premier League, but he was poor for Guinea-Bissau as they drew 1-1 with Eswantini in the AFCON qualifiers on Friday night.

He was tasked with leading the line, yet Beto managed to take just 20 touches during his time on the pitch, while losing the ball nine times and losing ten of his 11 contested duels as he struggled to get a foothold in the game.

Beto also committed five fouls during the match and completed only five passes. Yes, he may have had a hand in the equalising goal – with his cross eventually finding its way in courtesy of Carlos Mane – but overall, it was a dismal showing from the Everton player.

Given Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s dropoff in form in recent weeks, Dyche would have been hoping for a more promising showing by Beto.

On the evidence on yesterday’s showing, however, It looks like he could find himself on the bench again when Everton take on Brentford following the conclusion of the international break next week.

His sole Premier League goal has come from the bench, which suggests he is perhaps better off being utilised midway through a game.

This was his chance to impress Dyche, however, but the 26-year-old failed to showcase his true talents, that’s for sure.

Newcastle send out Alexander Isak warning to Liverpool, Arsenal and PSG as Eddie Howe's side plot contract talks with £120m-rated striker

Newcastle United are reportedly planning to hold contract talks with Alexander Isak to fend off potential suitors like Liverpool, Arsenal and PSG.

The Swedish forward has emerged as one of the most sought-after strikers in European football, and the Magpies are eager to secure his long-term future at St. James’ Park. Although Isak is already tied to the club until 2028, Newcastle’s hierarchy is aware that his current salary of £140,000 per week is significantly lower than what other elite forwards earn across England and Europe.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

On Tuesday, Newcastle revealed a 28 per cent increase in turnover to £320 million, but their spending power remains restricted due to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Hence, despite the financial boost, they cannot afford to match the astronomical wages that Isak might command at a club with greater financial resources. So far, there have been no discussions about improving his contract, but with the summer transfer window approaching, speculation about his future is only expected to intensify.

  • WHAT NEWCASTLE CHIEF EXECUTIVE SAID

When asked whether Newcastle could offer Isak a new deal reflecting his rising status, the club's chief executive Darren Eales, was caught in a spot of bother.

“We’re going to be clear, he has multi years left [on his deal],” Eales told . “So all of these things, we will have the discussions in terms of a new deal, just like we did, whether it’s Joelinton, Bruno or Anthony Gordon. That’s something that we will approach in the summer.”

On the growing transfer links surrounding Isak, Eales admitted that it was frustrating but inevitable. “It is part and parcel of the world we live in. The reality is that all of our players are under long-term deals. They’re committed to the club, so from that perspective, we’re not looking to move any player on. It would be crazy for us to consider it [selling stars].

“If we chose to renew contracts of players and keep key players here, that means there is going to be an impact in terms of what you have available elsewhere, but Eddie [Howe, the head coach] knows that and understands the financial parameters we have here.”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

For Isak, the Champions League remains a priority, as he has only made six appearances in Europe’s premier club competition. If Newcastle fail to qualify for next season’s tournament, the 26-year-old forward may be reluctant to extend his stay.

West Ham boast just three wins from their opening 11 games in the top flight so far, and the east Londoners have been heavily criticised for their form under Lopetegui in that time, with some members of the media “stunned” by their lack of identity and purpose since David Moyes’ departure.

There are many reports that Lopetegui is facing a very uncertain future at West Ham as a result, with technical director Tim Steidten and co weighing up alternatives for the 58-year-old.

Ex-Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri and former FC Porto head coach Sergio Conceicao are two names who’ve been linked with the potential vacant West Ham post, alongside their former backroom member Edin Terzic.

Lopetegui’s inability to call upon their brand-new striker seriously hasn’t helped his cause either, with £27 million summer signing Niclas Füllkrug enduring a nightmare start to his West Ham career.

Having scored 16 goals in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund last season, Fullkrug was brought in to ease the reliance on Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, but the Germany international’s struggles with an Achilles tendon injury means he’s been unable to make the desired impact.

AC Milan linger as Fullkrug could leave West Ham in January

The £90,000-per-week forward, it is believed, could depart West Ham as soon as January. A few reports in the media have suggested this already, and the notion of a Fullkrug exit is backed by Italian news outlet TUTTOmercatoWEB.

The outlet and journalist Andrea Losapio writes that a West Ham exit for Fullkrug is on the cards in January, and AC Milan have long been admirers of the 31-year-old, who would’ve been a “perfect” option to partner Alvaro Morata.

Milan ended up settling on Tammy Abraham in the summer instead, who’s bagged two Serie A goals in seven leagues. However, perhaps there could be another opportunity for the Rossoneri to strike a deal for Fullkrug, considering Abraham is only on loan at the San Siro.

The main departures were Peter Nevill’s retirement after a distinguished career in front and behind the stumps, as well as a leader, while Harry Conway has gone to South Australia. • Chris Tremain's long wait: 'I contemplated retirement quite frequently'

Last season
Due to border restrictions, New South Wales faced Victoria three times in the first part of the season. They lost the opening two games to put their campaign on the back foot, but when the Shield resumed in February they secured wins against Queensland and Tasmania. However, it wasn’t enough to keep them in finals contention and in the last game of the season South Australia chased down 326. The biggest issue for NSW was a lack of first-innings runs where their highest total was 294 in the final outing. Overall, there were just two individual hundreds.Player to watch
On that note, it is an important season for captain Kurtis Patterson. In the last two seasons, he has averaged 21.29 and 28.11 respectively. He needs to lead a batting revival from the front as a senior player.”In particular our first innings batting last year just wasn’t good enough,” Patterson told ESPNcricinfo. “On day one [of pre-season] we had three or four really key areas to work on and guys really taking the reins in four-day cricket was a big one. That’s guided how we’ve trained around our red-ball stuff. I’ve always thought your captain’s hat is off when the team is batting, that’s easier said than done, but I feel in a better place having had a year captaining under my belt. Feel that separation is a bit easier now that I’m not too stressed out about team things.”NSW will also hope to see further development in their two wicketkeepers – Matthew Gilkes and Baxter Holt – following the retirement of Nevill. Holt is expected to start in the Shield side but he will need to build on a first-class average of 14.77.

Australia radar
Beyond the big three quicks, David Warner, and Steven Smith, who NSW may not see anything off this season, Nathan Lyon is expected to be available for three or four Shield games before the Tests begin in late November. They will hope for a return more akin to 2020-21 (42 wickets at 25.97) than 2021-22 (four wickets at 62.75) but he won’t be available for the latter part of the competition due to the India Test tour.An interesting one could be Adam Zampa who, in theory, will be free for red-ball cricket in February. He has not played a first-class match since 2019. Elsewhere, Sean Abbott is the likeliest to be pulled away for Australia duty (he will miss the opening round due to the West Indies series) although probably only around white-ball cricket now enlarged squads are no longer needed. It’s a long shot, but another strong season for Chris Tremain, who took 24 wickets at 15.95 last summer, could push him into the list of back-up quicks. Tanveer Sangha‘s back injury appears likely to curtail his ambitions of pushing further towards international selection for a little while, but he will hope for a strong second half of the season.

Speakman shares exciting update on Sunderland's January transfer plans

da winzada777: Sunderland’s sporting director has delivered an exciting update on the Black Cats’ January transfer plans.

Sunderland struggling

da blaze casino: After a storming start to the season that saw them win nine of their first 12 games in the Championship, Regis Le Bris’ side are now without a win in six. After drawing five in a row, they were most recently beaten 1-0 by league leaders Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Speaking after the defeat to the Blades, Le Bris said: “How can we dominate a strong team like that and still lose in the end? It’s incredibly frustrating.”

Sunderland winger Patrick Roberts.

The Frenchman also highlighted the area that he feels his side needs to improve on the most.

“We were confident and dominant, but the missing piece was finishing. Scoring a goal is my main concern right now,” he explained, adding: “It’s not just a matter of luck; we need to focus on the small details, work hard, and find solutions.”

Speakman: "We have to be optimistic"

The solution to Sunderland’s recent problems could come in the form of some new arrivals in the January transfer window. The Black Cats have recently been linked with a number of players, including Celtic wonderkid Daniel Cummings, Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle and Peterborough United winger Kwame Poku, and fortunately for Le Bris, it appears he will indeed be given money to spend after the New Year.

Speaking with Sunderland’s media team earlier this week, the club’s sporting director Kristjaan Speakman provided a candid update on how the club intend to do business next month.

“First of all, it’s about assessing the squad. I think we’re coming from a position of strength. I think the group’s in a really good place. We’ve got loads of preparation going on.

“We’ve just got to be really diligent in the moment, able to react and action things really quickly within the month of January,” he said, before closing with 8 words which should be music to fans’ ears ahead of the winter window.

Jobe Bellingham update

While Sunderland could soon be about to recruit some new players, they could also be about to lose one very important one. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Borussia Dortmund have recently been “in contact” with midfielder Jobe Bellingham about a potential move to the Westfalenstadion, where his older brother, Jude, spent three seasons before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023.

Sky said that Dortmund, and especially chief scout Sebastian Krug, still maintain a close relationship with Bellingham’s family, and that his “development is being closely monitored”.

Bellingham has been one of Sunderland’s standout players since moving to the Stadium of Light last year, catching the eye with his commanding performances in the middle of the park.
